fangirl @ work

So, after nearly six years, I have rejoined the workforce. It is a bit surreal. I still have my health issues and I dread them interfering with my job, but I can honestly say that no matter how I feel when I get up in the morning, or going to work, that I mostly feel better by the end of the day. It's not that my headaches magically disappear or anything, but I genuinely like my job (I have already begun campaigning for a permanent position on the staff), and I like the atmosphere and doing someting and getting a paycheck.
The only downside, currently, is that I have no time, and so much to do. I still have most of the same chores to do, as I did when I didn't work, and my livejournal and on-line stuff and the websites - all that jazz, but after eight hours of work, I am quite tired, and if I don't get home until six or seven (or later with errands somethimes) and crash between nine and eleven to wake between six and seven to go to work. It eats up a lot of my day, plus I've been sick for the last week or so. I don't think I have ever gotten so much sleep, but my body seems to need it. I hope that I will adjust and get a little more time. (When I did feel better, I was using the extra 15-20 minutes in my scheduele to check email and lj - that was nice. This week, I used it to take my cold medicine and sleep a bit more).
All of that aside, I have decided that us fangirls (and boys) have more fun. I was at work today, minding my tasks, when on the radio came "Who are You?" and I had my little CSI squee moment. The other day, I was listening to a song that is inspiring one of my current fic projects and I had pretty, slashy inspiration. Everyone else doesn't know what they are missing.
One of my tasks this weekend is to put that inspiration to paper. It's all bottled up inside. I also have to finish an overdue site design project and update my other sites this weekend as well. So, I will pretty much be living, breathing, eating my computer this weekend. Drop me a note, commiserate, whtever... hopefully, I will have lots to show for it, because I have to go back to work on Monday, and sometime between now and then, I really have to clean the bathroom, do laundry and wash the dishes.
ain't life as a working woman grand....
ps. I also had a fun fangirly moment when it came time to choose my password for work... I name my computers, and pets and sometimes passwords from tv characters and I chose Rodney McKay for this honor - it quite amused me. I get to think about Rodney, several times a day, when I have to log-in to any of the servers - and I can change it every 45 days, if I wish.
